Outline of Conversation class: Day 1: Education/schooling/why is it important to study English? Day 2: Travel/life skills/traffic and driving Day 3: Fashion/beauty/clothing Day 4: Restaurants/hotels/cooking Day 5: Relationships/dating/marriage Outline of Reading & Writing class: This class plans to teach students how to write CVs and cover letters that will help students to continue their education abroad. The in class activities will be divided into two phases: a receptive phase in which students are guided to notice selected target language and lexical features; and a productive phase in which students could practice using the lexis to produce their own writing. The students will practice to discover key format, lexis, collocations, and grammar in authentic emails, statements of purpose, letters of recommendation, and CVs. Using examples of CVs and cover letters etc. the students will be shown how to judge what information is relevant and what should be left out. They will then practice how to write a CV and a cover letter that advertizes their specific skills and qualifications in class. The students will be guided through a step by step process starting with rough sketches of their CVs and cover letters at the beginning of the class. At the end of the course they will come up with the refined final draft of their application materials. All the necessary materials used in class will be provided by the instructor. --
