The Origin of a Wordless Author
一、簡介
大衛‧威斯納出生在美國紐澤西州，得到羅得島技術學院插畫學位。
大衛從高中起，就用對圖畫來說故事很感興趣，接觸過默片和無字漫畫的製作。
大衛在學生時代創作了一幅長達九英尺的畫，主題是「自由落體」，這成為他的第一
本書，也為他贏得1989 Caldecott獎。

大衛：「許多插畫家的靈感來自於「夢」，但我不是。相反的，當我作畫的時候，
潛意識經常會浮出表面。這或許可以說是一種「白日夢」吧！」

●「我喜歡漫畫，也常運用漫畫的切割式描繪法。在漫畫中，時間可以被壓縮或
擴充。一個快速的動作可以分解成上打個畫面，如同電影的慢動作。也可以在
各自觀察細節的同時，看到整個背景畫面。」
