Washington (CNN) --
Suspended NBA star Gilbert Arenas was sentenced to two
years of supervised probation Friday for bringing guns into his team's locker
room.
He also is to serve 30 days in a halfway house. Judge Robert Morin ordered
him to perform 400 hours of community service and contribute $5,000 to a fund
for victims of violence.
簡單的說不用去坐牢了，兩年緩刑，中途之家服務30天，五千罰金，四百小時社區服務

Arenas, a suspended point guard for the Washington Wizards, pleaded guilty on
January 15 to illegally bringing four guns into the team's locker room during
an ongoing dispute with teammate Javaris Crittenton.
Arenas' lawyers were seeking probation. They called the NBA player a good
role model, and said he's already been punished severely through public scorn
and loss of income.
Prosecutors, who sought three months in jail for the NBA star, said Arenas
lied repeatedly about the incident. As part of a plea deal, they agreed not
to seek more than six months in jail.
Prosecutors said Arenas also tried to persuade Crittenton to cover up their
confrontation.
"If any other individual without fame, power and the wealth of this defendant
brought four firearms into the District for the purpose of a similar
confrontation, the government would seek their incarceration and the court
would almost certainly give it," prosecutor Chris Kavanaugh said.
In the sentencing memo, Arenas' lawyers say those who know him depict him as
an "offbeat, but fundamentally very decent" man.
"Despite a history of pranks and misguided practical jokes, he is a peaceful
man who is not aggressive or confrontational in any way," according to court
documents released by Arenas' attorneys.
