School is out! 12/15/04 3:14 PM It's V, and I have reason to celebrate because school is out! I am not really finished forever but I am out for now... I took three classes this term, Textile Design, Computer Aided Design(CAD) and Children's Wear. OK, I know that doesn't give you a clue as to what I did so I will break it down a bit. http://tinyurl.com/6p88z My Design Board Children's Wear - By far the most challenging of all of my classes! I had to create patterns from measurements only to create four garments. Of course I had to sew these pieces too! I also had to create boards showing designs. Before this class I was very intimated by pattern making but now I am pretty comfortable with doing it... I also learned a whole lot about advanced clothing construction techniques, the type of finishing you see on well made garments and evening wear. http://tinyurl.com/6yhub Pinning a Jacket CAD - OK I loved this course! I like using a computer because I am a digital baby! This class involved making patterns on the computer. You learn the whole process from drafting the pattern into the computer, labeling the patterns, and laying out the patterns on fabric digitally which is called marker making. I also used one of my own T-shirt to create a digital knock off, very cool. One thing that I do have to say is that I do not have a future in marker making, too many restrictions! http://tinyurl.com/6jpno Plaid I Designed http://tinyurl.com/3jcuy My Floral Design Textile design - Another thumbs up for this class once again because I love computers. I learned to apply software programs like photoshop and illustrator to create fabrics. I learned how to digitally create repeats, plaids, lace, checks, all kinds of fabrics and I also learned how to make them look like they were really the fabrics! This class is also a about making a presentation, so I needed to present my designs in a way that looks hot. Check out the other photos of me hard at work as well as two of my favorite teachers...
