The pair famously shared a stage at the Grammy Awards in 2001 and have been linked with a new collaboration. Both are understood to have been in the same studio in Detroit last October, prompting the speculation. Eminem's new album, "Relapse", features a string of other big name hook-ups and is due for release later this year. The news of a possible meeting was leaked by a local source, who explained: "No one realised the significance, though the Detroit Free Press did mention that Elton had been in town. "Anything they produce will be total dope: some of Em's biggest records have been collaborations with mainstream pop stars - Dido on 'Stan', for example - and they really don't come much bigger, or more mainstream, than the man with the red piano", said the source.
