This will be a great place to talk with other internationals who have studied or worked in the DC area for a while and internationally-minded Americans, many of whom have lived overseas and know what it’s like to be a visitor in another country. You’ll also learn about two free programs which are specifically designed to help with your transition to the USA: English Conversation Club (ECC) and American Friendship Partners (FP). Personally I received lots of help through ECC when I was a student at GW three years ago. Now I am working as an elementary school ESL teacher for Alexandria City Public Schools. Getting connected with those kind and nice Americans has made my life as an international student a lot easier and more meaningful.
