Delbruek is, of course, the towering figure but many other historians deserve to be mentioned: Jean Colin in France; the German General Staff historians—with whom Delbruek had a famous and inflamed controversy regarding the strategy of Frederick the Great; Julian Corbett, G.F.R. Henderson, Charles Oman, and Frank Taylor in Great Britain; D.A. Maslovskii in Russia; Alfred Thayer Mahan in the US; and Arthur Stille in Sweden.
