It is a sum worth paying for Valencia, however, as Monchi has been credited with setting up and maintaining one of the best youth production lines in Spanish football. His track record in the transfer market has also been incredible and none of this has gone unnoticed by La Primera's richest clubs. Players such as Sergio Ramos, Jose Antonio Reyes and Jesus Navas have all come through the ranks at Sevilla, while the likes of Julio Baptista, Frederic Kanoute, Andres Palop and Enzo Maresca have all seen their careers rejuvenated after Monchi picked them out. Last year, Monchi showed that he is prepared to leave Sevilla having almost completed his job there by agreeing to assume the sporting director's role at Almeria.
