Pekovic, who was limited to a career-low 31 games this season, will undergo a debridement and repair of his Achilles tendon on Wednesday. The surgery will be conducted by Dr. Robert Anderson in Charlotte, N.C. The operation will attempt to remove damaged or dead tissue, with the intention of improving the environment for remaining healthy tissue in the ankle. Surgery is the latest avenue the Wolves will travel down to try to get Pekovic healthy. Pekovic and the team have tried different exercises, limited minutes in games and special shoes to combat the reoccurring problem. None has been able to abate the pain Pekovic says he routinely plays with. The issue, which has been described as bursitis, cost Pekovic 28 of the final 38 games last season, and he hasn't played in more than 65 games since his rookie year (2010-11). Thursday's news comes after Wolves president of basketball operations Flip Saunders said Monday that Pekovic will be out for the remainder of the season, which concludes April 15.
