The team has not acknowledged publicly its efforts to terminate the rest of the troubled forward's three-year, $8.1 million or its efforts to reach agreement on a buyout. An announcement by the team on the issue is likely to be made today, according to a team official. However, owner Glen Taylor told the Associated Press before the game that a decision on Griffin's status would be made next week, whether the Timberwolves issue their own suspension or release him from the roster. "My guess is it would be the latter," Taylor said. But even if he remains on the roster, he won't be part of the game plan. Griffin, who was involved in three separate late-night incidents involving police each of the past three years, has not played since Dec. 13 and has sat out 25 of the team's 38 games this season. And coach Dwane Casey suggested that idle status won't change anytime soon. "As far as being back in the rotation, we'll see what happens with that,'' Casey said. "We'll just have to try to get some time back with the team (in practice) before we see which way we're going to go as far as active or inactive is concerned.'' At the very least, practice time will be scarce over the next week or two as the Wolves embark on a five-gamesin-seven-days trip out west. Eight of their next 10 games are on the road. "There's not going to be a lot of grueling practice time," Casey said. "There's going to be a lot of individual work, a lot of three-on-three and four-on-four, and stuff like that. We'll try to get him incorporated into that and back into the swing of things. But as far as actual up and down, it's going to be hard to find in the next week or so." Garnett says Flip would help U: Timberwolves star Kevin Garnett doesn't know why his former coach with the Wolves would want to leave the NBA to coach in college, but he endorsed Detroit coach Flip Saunders for the University of Minnesota vacancy, if that's what he wants. "Flip's a great coach. It doesn't matter if he's coaching the YMCA," Garnett said, "or coaching you all (media), or coaching me. Again. Someday... . He's a good coach, and if he's at the U, he's at the U, and he's going to do a great job, wherever he's at. "I don't know if being in the league as long as he's been in the league and going back to college is his preference, but if he does that, I wish him the best." Bobbled paint job: Rookie guard Randy Foye had just one problem with his special bobblehead night: The likeness of the Foye bobblehead given to fans at Friday's game. "It's not too good. It's a lot darker than me," he said. "That's my main thing. It should at least be my complexion." Still, he seemed thrilled to have a bobblehead night in his honor less than halfway into his first NBA season. "I've been waiting for this day my whole life," he said, "Just being able to be on a poster or bobbleheads or something like that." As for whether it's a sign he's arrived in the big leagues?
