2011年6月3日晚間八點，在二校區福林路與中港路口， 東海大學美術系兩名學生在綠燈時 欲往東海別墅方向行駛至慢車道， 在已通過快車道2/3時遭到一名酒駕闖紅燈的駕駛撞傷， 機車後座的女同學傷勢極為嚴重，昏迷指數僅3， 腦幹受損，情況非常不樂觀 東海大學學生在中港路上車禍事件頻傳 但學校卻遲遲未有任何實質的動作改善學生的交通安全問題 希望學校能夠規劃在東海外圍牆(近中港路)內 設置一條環校機車道 加強一校區與二校區間的交通連結與安全性 降低學生因上課而在兩校區間通勤間於中港路上發生意外之機率 以及在人行道上人車爭道的問題 On June 3rd , 2011 at eight in the evening. Two students from the Art Department in Tung Hai University were hit by a drunk driver who ran through a red light when they were crossing the intersection of Chungkang Road and Flynn Road. The girl sitting in the back of the scooter was wounded very badly, she fell into a level 3 coma on the Glasgow Coma Scale, which means that her Brainstem is damaged. Students of THU often have car accidents on Chunkang Road, however we still don’t see the school taking any action to remedy this problem, we loudly demand the school build a plan a motorcycle lane around the school’s perimeter to reinforce the safety and to provide safe transit between the two campuses and to solve the conflicts between motorcyclists and pedestrians on the sidewalk. ------------- 目前美術系女同學還在榮總的呼吸科加護病房裡觀察 因為當場目擊此次事件的發生，深深感受到交通的問題 一直未有改善的情況，大家身為東海的學生也熱愛東海 但是學校董事會以及行政體系一直罔顧學生的安全 此次事件只是一個引爆點，以往的案例層出不窮 東海的學生何時才能夠安心的上下課 讓自己與家人不必在擔心來東海念書會有危險!! 此次活動將會是長期的奮鬥，未來將會規劃在校園中發起連署 除了連署之外還會有一連串的相關計畫進行 務必要讓董事會能夠重視學生們的意見!! 身為東海的學生，不能在讓自己的權益睡著了!!
