The Rays met Sunday with Iwamura's agent, Alan Nero, and Friedman said discussions were progressing. "Nothing is imminent, but we're optimistic that we will get the deal done," Friedman said. "We're optimistic that we will [sign him], but we're not going to treat it like it's a done deal." The Rays have until Dec. 15 to finalize a contract with Iwamura.
