偷泥代po Angela是台大中文的交換學生 所以這篇是英文的 ============================= Angela ================================ I am an exchange student studying at NTU and was lucky enough to be able to participate in a surfing activity with the surfing club at NTU. Although I am from Sydney, Australia where they have beautiful beaches and a strong beach culture I had never been surfing before. The weather was slightly overcast and a little cold that day. There wasn't much wind and so the waves were rather small but it was perfect for us beginners. The first thing we were given were wetsuits to wear and then a surfboard each. The instructor then took us to the beach and we practiced lying down on our boards and learning how to paddle and eventually stand up on the board. After some practice in the sand we headed out to try these skills in the water. I was quite scared at first because I don't like getting pushed over in the water by waves, however I was quick to get over this fear after being pushed off my board numerous times into the freezing cold water. I found it quite difficult to get on the board, especially into a sitting position. Being unable to do this meant that I couldn't progress to the standing stage of learning how to surf. Despite this my instructor just told me to jump on the board when a wave came just so I could experience the feeling of surfing. It was rather fun having the wave carry you all the way into shore so I think I did get to experience a little of what it is like to surf despite not being able to actually stand up on the board. After surfing we had a nice lunch and then the owner of the surf shop told us a bit about how he started his shop. I feel that the shop is really catered for surfers and supplies a lot of surfing brands that even I, as a Sydneysider, have never heard of before which means it has a wide range of brand names to choose from. The owner was very welcoming in having us back again to try surfing again which was nice. Overall it was a very enjoyable day and well organised.
