川普在接受《時代》雜誌訪問時表示，他仍然堅信關稅是必要的手段。他說：「債券市場
變得有些緊張，但我沒有。」他還補充說，如果一年後美國對外國進口商品的關稅仍高達
50%，他會將這視為「完全的勝利」。
川普表示，中國國家主席習近平曾打電話給他，目前他的政府正與中方積極談判以達成協
議。美國政府高層官員盧特尼克（Lutnick）和另一位資深官員證實了這項談判，不過北
京方面對此提出異議。
川普談到習近平時說：「我不認為這是他軟弱的表現。」他還補充，預計在接下來的三到
四週內，將宣布一系列完整的協議。他說：「有個數字會讓他們感到可以接受，但你不能
讓他們從我們身上賺走一兆美元。」
