Specifically, Kodak film stock 5219.' Mindel previously worked with Abrams on Mission: Impossible III, Star Trek, and Star Trek Into Darkness. The decision to use 35m film instead of a digital capture process reflects a preference that Abrams described to an audience at the Produced By conference in June: "I have not yet shot a movie digitally.
