The Cabinet Office made the announcement on Thursday. The 69-year-old native of Yorkshire, England, tops the list of those receiving New Year's honors from Britain's Queen Elizabeth II. In addition to playing Capt. Picard, Patrick Stewart is also known as playing Professor Charles Xavier in the X-Men movies. Charles Xavier, or "Professor X" is a telepath, but Patrick Stewart probably didn't see this coming. The 2008 F1 champion, Lewis Hamilton, received an MBE, which stands for Member of the Order of the British Empire, last year. There are additional F1 awards that were announced today. Jenson Button, who won the 2009 Formula 1 drivers championship, and who races with the Brawn-Mercedes team. will receive an MBE. British fashion designer Amanda Wakeley will receive an OBE. Cath Kidston and Luella Bartley, fellow fashion designers, will receive MBEs. Also receiving an MBE are Rose Gray and Ruth Rogers, who together started the River Cafe in London, along the Thames.
