Nadal beat Novak Djokovic 6-2 6-3 to equal McEnroe's run on indoor carpet from 1983 to 1985. And McEnroe, who was courtside at the Foro Italico, said afterwards: "The guy seems like he's unbeatable right now." Nadal will get a chance to break the record when he faces Nikolay Davydenko in the semi-finals on Saturday. "I'm running out of records!" said McEnroe, who is in Rome to compete on the BlackRock Tour of Champions. "Federer almost got me and missed out by one match [when the Swiss attempted to match McEnroe's 82-3 record from 1984 but lost to David Nalbandian in the 2005 Masters Cup final, taking him to 81-4.] "Now Nadal is after this one. I'm not surprised though. If I have anything left by the end I'll be happy." Nadal's victory over Djokovic on Friday was the latest example of the Spaniard's utter dominance on clay. "It was fun to watch," said McEnroe. "Those two guys are the top of the line and it was amazing to watch them. "Someone will look at the result and think, '6-2 6-3, it wasn't much of a match', but the scary thing is that Djokovic played well." McEnroe, a former French Open finalist, remains convinced that the only way to trouble Nadal on his favourite surface is to take the initiative. "Guys like Djokovic prefer to play from the baseline and it's harder than it was to come to the net because Nadal is hitting the ball harder and with more spin than anyone ever did when I was playing," said the American. "You really have to work on your serve and take your chances that way. The great thing with tennis is that even a guy like Nadal is going to feel pressure some time. "When you have him at 0-30, that is the time to really step in and be aggressive I think.
