Propects looking to improve skills
It's time for three fo the 76ers young prospects to take another steps to
their development. To that end, second-round draft choice Louis Williams and
undrafted free agents Shavlik Randoph and Deng Gai are scheduled to leave
Sunday for a series of skills sessions in Las Vegas.
The sessions will be directed by longtime NBA assistant Tim Grgurich, but are
not operated by the league or the Sixers. The Sixers' Willie Green and Andre
Iguodala attended last summer's sessions.
"Players have been doing this on their own for several years," Sixers
assistant general manager Tony DiLeo saod. "But there's no official
affiliation with the league or with us. It's similar to the big-man camps
that many players attend."
Randoph, from Duke, and Gai, from Fairfield, have been in town working out
and are expected to sign contracts with the Sixers when the league's
moratorium expires next week. The moratorium, in place as the league and
union finalize details of a new collective bargaining agreement, originally
as expected to end July 22.
