Caddo School Board members Wednesday approved the use of Creswell Elementary School and two buses by a company filming "Premonition," a movie starring Sandra Bullock. The film tells the story of a woman who has a premonition that her husband will be in a car accident and the chain of events as she tries to stop it. Crews will film Bullock's character dropping off and picking up her children at the school Feb. 7-8. The scenes involve child extras entering and leaving the school, but no filming will occur inside Creswell Elementary. "The drop-off and pickup times will be the same. It's just the traffic that is closed," said Marilyn Hubbard, Creswell Elementary principal. Crews working on "The Guardian," a film starring Kevin Costner and Ashton Kutcher, are supposed to start shooting at South Highlands Elementary Magnet School in Shreveport on Saturday. That location shoot is expected to last six days but won't affect classes. Hubbard and district officials made minor concessions to Hollywood, including suspending the Creswell Elementary's regular bell schedule for those two days. Only the 3 p.m. final bell will ring. A crew also will take down Creswell Elementary's outdoor marquee sign for filming and replace it when the shoot is finished. They may trim some of the trees on the front of the campus, too. Hubbard plans to send letters home to parents Monday and another round of reminders Feb. 5. "I am very excited. The children will be aware of it. And, more than likely, the teachers will try to do some type of essay around movies." The school system will receive $3,500 for the use of Creswell Elementary and $175 per bus from the film company. The money will go into Caddo's general operating fund.
