What are some important qualities of a good supervisor (boss)? A good supervisor may have lots of important qualities but, generally speaking, I think there are three major qualities of an excellent supervisor. A good supervisor should be able to assign jobs to proper person, he should be able to be responsible and he is talent in encouraging his subordinates. Some people may think a good supervisor should be able to deal with everything by himself. However, no one is talent in every field and people only have twenty-four hours a day. Hence, a good leader should be able to assign jobs to proper person. By discussing and doing some testing, a leader gets to know what interesting jobs and talented aspect a follower owns. A leader also will adjust the job of subordinates depends on their current working status and loading. A good supervisor should be responsible. Sometimes, even the delay of a project is due to one mistake made by his subordinates, a good supervisor still have to take responsible for it. The most important goal is to make the project move on but not trying to argue who make the project delay. Taking the responsible and willing to deal with the problem with his partner, a good supervisor may not only rescue the schedule of a project but also relief the pressure pushed on that partner. Finally, a good supervisor is talent in encouraging his subordinates. A project always lasts for a long period of time. Although it is only a small progress, a good leader will try to thanks for everyone’s effort and tell them a milestone has been reached. Everyone in the group should be cheered and have more energy to make much more efforts. On the other hand, if someone made a big fault, a good supervisor would encourage his partner still, and give him another chance to correct the problem. It always leads better results to encourage than to punish. With the reasons above, I think a good supervisor should be able to adjust and select proper assignment for proper person, he should be able to take responsible for bad things which delay the project and he should be able to cheer his partners whether the project goes successfully or not. --
