Should a city try to preserve its old, historic buildings or destroy them and replace them with modern buildings? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. In today's world inundated with tradition and modern, although, some people thought the tradition is the obstruction of the modern, and the historic buildings would cause the impeding for renovating a city; nevertheless, if we get rid of our historic buildings and antiques, we would loss our historic evidence and memory. The issue of Taiwan's temples and Boston's Fenway Park illustrate why this is so. To begin with, take my country, Taiwan, for example, you could see many archaic temples in Taiwan, especially in Tainan. In fact, those temples are not only the religion places where people could worship god but also represent the religion and social story in Taiwan. In Taiwan's colonial period, Japanese government disapproved people believe the Taoism, and worship the gods of Taoism. Those Taoist hided their god in Buddhism temples secretly, so we could see the mixture of two traditional religions in one temples. Those old temples play important roles in Taiwan society, people used to gather in the temples and exchange their messages each other. Even we could observe that there are many night markets next to temples. In reason is that temples are the community center in the agricultural period, even though the time is different, but Taiwanese still have this traditional concept. Those old temples in Taiwan are not just some archaic buildings; those are also meaningful for Taiwanese, so Taiwan government tries it best to preserve those historic buildings. Additionally, Fenway Park is one of the most popular baseball fields in America, and it is also the oldest field in the MLB fields. Although Fenway Park is very small compared to other fields, couldn't be able to accommodate many people, it's not doubt that Fenway Park are still loved by most people. Why? I think the answer is Fenway Park itself. The fact is that Fenway Park for lots of baseball fanatics is not just a field, it represent the baseball history and the argument between New York Yankee and Boston Red Sox. Many fans' memory is extant with Fenway Park, there is no other new or modern field could replace it. It is why many baseball fans advocate preserving the Fenway Park rather than destroy it in order to build a new one. Because there is much invaluable and cherish memory in Fenway Park. In conclusion, modern buildings are not able to replace the historic meaning. If we get rid of our historic buildings in order to have a new one or better one, we would loss something that could not be regenerated by anything. It is history. --
