If you saw me playing at Wimbledon maybe you noticed I was wearing some funny looking medical plasters on my knee! I didn't want to talk too much about it at the time, because I never like to focus on injuries, but it was hurting a lot during the tournament. After Wimbledon I flew to Italy to see a specialist and to have an MRI scan. The result I received on Tuesday wasn't good. I waited a couple of days, hoping for a miracle, but today the doctor confirmed that my knee definitely isn't ready for tennis. Unfortunately he has ordered me to rest it completely for two weeks. I will have more treatment over the next few days, then rest for another week before I can get back on the court again. This means that I can't play in the Fed Cup at the weekend. I'm very disappointed about this. I was so looking forward to playing, especially because it is such an important tie. I wish the girls the very best. I will also have to withdraw from San Diego, which is also a pity because it's a great tournament. If my rehabilitation goes according to plan, I will be able to play my next tournament in the second week of August. I'm very confident I will still be able to defend my title in Toronto. Obviously coping with injuries is one of the most difficult challenges for a sportsperson and it gets you down sometimes. But I am lucky that I have a great team around me and they do everything they can to help me. The Serbian tennis federation is also very supportive; the president Bobo Zivojinovic sent me a nice message and I am grateful for that. During this time away from the court I will at least be able to reflect on these amazing two months. I'm proud of what I achieved and I feel extra motivation to train hard so that I continue to improve. So I will rest in the next two weeks and visit my family in Belgrade.
