"He was going to go through all the pregame activity and taking batting practice," Giants manager Bruce Bochy said before Monday's game against the Washington Nationals. "He felt some soreness in there, probably from swinging the bat a lot." Sandoval is expected to get at least 20 at-bats before rejoining the Giants. Giants left-hander Barry Zito began his rehab assignment with a scheduled 85-pitch appearance for the Class A San Jose Giants in Stockton, Calif. Zito, recovering from a mid-foot sprain, went 6 2/3 innings, allowing two hits, one run, no walks and striking out six.
