(Jonathan Daniel/Getty Images) MILWAUKEE -- There were no orange traffic cones or police cruisers blocking the home-plate area at Miller Park on Thursday afternoon, but Giants catcher Todd Greene was glad no one left the scene of the accident. San Francisco lost a 7-4 decision to the Milwaukee Brewers as well as their backup backstop for a few days after Greene was run over by 260-pound runner Prince Fielder during the first inning. Gingerly putting on his shirt in the clubhouse, Green showed no visible signs of the violent collision save for a bruise above his cheekbone and somewhat reddish skin on the shoulder from extensive ice treatment. "I guess it's like getting knocked out in a boxing match -- you're kind of out of it for a second and then you regain your consciousness," said Greene, whose first start since April 29 proved brief and painful. Officially, Greene is day-to-day with a contusion of the right shoulder, but he admitted he was sore all over and decidedly miffed that Fielder was called safe even though the Giant clearly held the ball for several seconds after the play. Fielder's speed and considerable weight sent Greene flying, and although still dazed, the catcher tried gamely to show the ball to home-plate umpire Tim McClelland, but the arbiter didn't have a good view of the effort. "My face felt like it was on fire and I needed to put it out," said Greene. " I don't know if I was coherent or not, but I tried to show him the ball, but whatever," said Greene, who played with Fielder's father, Cecil, at Anaheim in 1998. "He is a good kid and he plays the game hard," said Greene, who remembered seeing Prince as a kid in the clubhouse. "I hope he continues to play hard." Fielder telephoned Greene after the game to check on the injuries. "He's cool," Fielder said. "He's a tough guy." Fielder was fine, too. Nary a scratch or bruise. "It was tougher for him," Fielder said. "He couldn't see me all the way, and then he turned and I was right there." Moments after the smashup, Brewer Corey Koskie tried to score as well, but pitcher Brad Hennessey tagged him at the last second. Hennessey did settle down after the three-run first inning, highlighted by Carlos Lee's two-run homer, but Lee ripped a two-run double in the fifth as well for a 5-0 lead after six innings. The Giants did manage to awaken from their offensive lethargy with a four-run fourth, featuring a two-run homer by Mike Matheny and two-run single by Steve Finley, but Geoff Jenkins' two-run shot in the seventh off reliever Scott Munter clinched the game. "I felt like I made good pitches, but two of them just got hit -- a 2-0 changeup that he hits out, then a 1-1 changeup that went the other way," said Hennessey, who may or may not be sent to the bullpen when Noah Lowry is activated from the disabled list and pitches Monday. Hennessey said he hasn't pitched in relief since high school, but would wait and see. "I haven't put any thought into it yet," he said. "I'll do that when the decision is made. If they feel like it's a way to help the team, then so be it . I'll try to make that adjustment." As the team heads to Philadelphia for a three-game series, manager Felipe Alou said he is still confident the club had hit well despite going 13 frames without scoring in the two-game series. The Giants have lost four of their last five games and are now struggling at 14-14. "It looked like we swung the bats a lot better today," said the skipper, not frustrated at the offense.
