By Mark Remme / MLB.com BOSTON -- Casey Kelly is now officially a member of the Red Sox organization. Kelly, the team's top pick (30th overall) in last month's First-Year Player Draft, will officially be introduced as part of the organization on Thursday during a 6:30 p.m. ET media conference call. The Sarasota (Fla.) High School standout will report to the Rookie League Gulf Coast Red Sox. Kelly was noted highly on Boston's Draft board for his abilities as a shortstop and as a pitcher. He hit .473 with five homers and 31 RBIs in 2008 and showed excellent range in the field. Meanwhile, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound right-hander went 8-1 with two saves and a 1.16 ERA on the hill. He struck out 77 while walking just 12 over 66 innings pitched. 2008年紅襪選秀狀元簽下來了！ bostonherald出現簽約金的消息 http://0rz.tw/104s8 Kelly, who could have joined the University of Tennessee football team as a quarterback, agreed to a deal which will pay him a total signing bonus of $3 million (although it will go in the books as 2.5,) well over the Major League Baseball recommended slot for the 30th overall selection. Kelly, who will begin his pro career with the Gulf Coast League Red Sox and play shortstop (although he will be introduced to pitching at some point, perhaps in Instructional League), will receive a present day value signing bonus of $2.5 million, but will get $600,000 per season over the next five years to incorporate inflation rate. http://0rz.tw/1c4mV Theo Epstein表示今年以游擊手出發。 等到好的時機，地點，環境都俱備之後會讓他 游擊/投手 雙向發展。 Kelly本人也自信能當個游擊手兼投手，也期待當紅襪人。 MLB.com 給他的評價很高，在大學是棒球/美式足球(四分衛)的雙棲球星 『Big and athletic, he has all the tools to play shortstop. The main question is whether he'll swing the bat well enough and that could determine his draft status as a hitter. As a pitcher, he's a bit raw, but has the makings of three outstanding pitches and could be more intriguing to scouts on the mound.』 Casey 的父親 Pat Kelly 是1980年藍鳥的捕手。 連結裡有Casey的打擊跟投球動作，有興趣可以看看。 --
