(Mirabelli
60-day DL
Holdzkom
: Doug Mirabelli is just as cocky in person as he sounds in the papers. Talking
: about himself as he ran off to the batting cages: "Looking real fit. I fear for
: the American League this season!"
: This from a guy who might make history this year with a negative on-base
: percentage.Matt swears it's true, so Dougie's Diary may not be far removed from
: reality.
: Mirabelli
: In the middle of last season, Manny Ramirez told Dustin Pedroia that if he won
: the Rookie of the Year award, he'd buy him a watch. On Saturday, Manny
: presented Pedroia with a Rolex.
: When Pedroia opened it all he could say was “Damn!”
: Pedroia said before he walked around the clubhouse showing
: his teammates the generous gift. Along with the watch Ramirez wrote Pedroia a
: little note, prompting Pedroia to comment, “Now I finally have your autograph.
: ”
: Pedroia
: “If he hits .300 this year, I’ll give him something else,” Ramirez said.
: “I want him to keep it going.”
