"Hopefully we are a better team than last year, but I don't know," Young said. "I know we are very talented and very deep. We are really confident in ourselves. We just want a chance to go out and play our game" Young is the Rangers all-time leader in games played, hits and runs and ranks among the franchise leaders in just about every offensive category. Until last season, however, he had never been to the playoffs. He has seen the club build and rebuild three times before finally reaching the playoffs. He also believes that winning a second straight AL West title speaks to the Rangers desired consistency. "We're getting close to the goal of being the kind of team that is a consistent contender, a perennial winner," said Michael Young. "That was our goal along. Two division championships in a row, that's getting closer. We want to do it year after year. "Winning in the big leagues is hard in general. You've got to find a way to get through injuries, through tough stretches, avoid excuses and go out and win.
