Detroit Pistons' Maurice Cheeks startled by lack of defense
Coach Maurice Cheeks admitted he is surprised at the Detroit Pistons'
lack of defensive proficiency.
教練Cheeks承認他對活塞防守不佳感到訝異。
They are last in opponents' field-goal percentage at 48.5%, and have a
next-to-last defensive rating of 105.5, which measures points per 100
possesions.
活塞被投籃命中率48.5%，全聯盟最差，而對手每100次持球進攻可以得到105.5分
也是倒數第二。
Those were the numbers staring Cheeks in the face before Friday night's
game against the visiting Atlanta Hawks.
就是這個數據在星期五對上老鷹前嚇到了Cheeks。
“To be 30th, it is surprising, and I think we have to get better on the
defensive end, and we got to get better at closing out the paint and we
got to get better job rebounding the ball, defensive rebounding the ball,”
he said.
「我們是第30名讓我很訝異。我認為我們必須要在防守端進步，必須要守好禁區、
搶下籃板，尤其是防守籃板。」Cheeks說。
“Defensive rebounding is a major part of defense, and that's one better
we can get better at.”

The Pistons' defense was expected to be ahead of the offense, but that
hasn't been the case.
活塞被預期是一隻守優於攻的球隊，但事實不然。
Josh Smith is considered a top-notch defender, and Andre Drummond is a
budding, young presence.
Smith被認為是頂級防守者，而Drummond則是成長中的新生代防守者。
Yet it has been a steady stream of lay-ups. Cheeks mentioned the team's
defensive rebounding where they were ranked 20th in defensive rebounding
percentage — not good when considering the lineup boasts Smith, Drummond
and Greg Monroe.
然而活塞一直被上籃。Cheeks提到團隊抓下防守籃板的能力聯盟第20。考量到
陣中有Smith、Drummond，還有Monroe，這並不是個好成績。
“I don't know if it's lack of concentration, but we have to get multiple
stops,” Cheeks said. “In order to be a defensive team, you have to get
multiple stops — two, three in a row — in order to be a good defensive
team.”
「我不知道這是否是不專心導致的，但是我們需要有許多層防線。」Cheeks說。
「要成為防守強隊，我們需要很多層防線─兩、三層連續的─才能防守得好。」
