來源: http://insider.espn.go.com/nba/playoffs2007/insider/columns/ story?columnist=thorpe_david&page=ScoutingMagicPistons-Game2 Anyone who watched the game or read the box score can figure out that Brian Hill's main teaching points heading into Game 2 will be centered around one simple fact: the Magic cannot commit anywhere close to 20 turnovers in Game 2 and expect to compete, much less win. That they were competitive in Game 1 despite the 20 turnovers (and 18 missed free throws) was largely the result of terrific perimeter shooting and an overall tenacity that matched up well with the Pistons' clear lack of a killer instinct. The Magic can not expect to hit on 58-plus percent of their field goals again. To pull off a shocker in Game 2, I look for the following: In order to limit turnovers, Orlando must either tighten up its handoff action or scrap it. Detroit, especially Richard Hamilton, really pressed that action and did not allow for the normally simple play to take place. Grant Hill must put pressure on himself to make plays in transition that result in baskets, not turnovers or deflections that result in out-of-bounds plays. Hill was very loose with the ball. Some pass fakes, or just a second of added patience, and the plays would have been made. The same can be said for every other Magic player save Tony Battie, who was the only guy on the team without a turnover. Dwight Howard is the guy we expected to struggle in this area, and he did. Look for Howard to face up more so he can see where the defenders are coming from. He did this with some success in Game 1. And Jameer Nelson needs to be more disciplined with his early possession dribble drives, staying out of the deep paint, where the Detroit bigs are waiting. As the possession develops, the post defenders are often more spread out, giving Nelson more space to operate inside on his slashing moves. Orlando must also play with more discipline on defense. Darko Milicic must stay on the ground unless he has a very legitimate chance to block a shot, because when he is too quick to jump or slide to contest a shot he leaves his man too open next to the rim for the tip-in or easy pass/dunk. When either Hill or Hedo Turkoglu is guarding Hamilton slashing to the goal, the other Magic defenders need to "show and recover," forcing Rip to finish over the much longer players and not letting him make easy passes to wide-open teammates. Offensively, I expect to see Orlando being more selective in who it runs wing actions to, avoiding whomever Prince is guarding and attacking Hamilton. And if the Pistons trap ball screens the way they did late in Game 1, having Darko in the game is a plus over Battie due to his gift at making the post-to-post pass to a sealed Howard inside. The only change I see Detroit making is trying to create a little more chaos defensively, anticipating Orlando's efforts at cleaning up its turnover problems. The Pistons might pull some new traps and deny some areas that they didn't on Saturday. They have beaten Orlando five straight times, so "same ole, same ole" seems appropriate. I do look for the Pistons to ramp up their energy and enthusiasm if they are in a position to blow the game open, something they struggled with last postseason and in Game 1.
