He made it sound as though rest is for the weary. "All 16 other teams go through the same thing," Saunders said. "For us to pull that out, that's a cop-out. Our guys aren't going to talk about being rested or anything else. We don't play any back-to-backs during the playoffs. I think last year when it was used I thought it was a cop-out for us to say it ... and I think it will be a cop-out for us to say it this year. That's going to have no bearing on whether we win or lose in the playoffs." Saunders said he wasn't sure if he would sit any of his starters for the remaining three regular-season games, starting tonight against Philadelphia. In that same vein, Saunders said, "doubt it. We're going to play everybody." With the exception of Flip Murray, no Pistons starter played more than 28 minutes Friday in Toronto. On Saturday, it was back to business at the team's practice facility. Saunders called Saturday's practice a "really good" one. "(We) got after it and did some live stuff," he said. "It was probably one of the better ones we've had in a while. It's important to have practice time, use games as practice to clean up things, work on things that we're doing now, work on things that we might do as far as down the road." The lack of practice has been cited as a main reason for center Chris Webber's offensive decline. Webber's scoring average has sunk to 7.4 a game since March 13 at Seattle. He also has played 30 minutes or more in only one of the Pistons' last 12 games. Saunders cited several reasons for that. Sparse practice time has been a big one, which Saunders said has taken Webber "a little bit out of shape," which in turn disrupts his rhythm. That would partly explain why the Pistons have had such poor starts by starting inside. So the offense has reverted to Chauncey Billups and Richard Hamilton initiating the sets. "And so by not going to (Webber) as much, he's kind of lost a little bit of that rhythm," Saunders said. "So our big thing now is we want to try to get him back in rhythm a little bit offensively." UNSURE FOR TODAY: Billups did some shooting but did not take part in full-contact drills at Saturday's practice. He's still recovering from a sore right thigh he got from an errant knee during Wednesday's game. Asked whether Billups will play today against Philadelphia, Saunders said, "I don't know. Don't know yet. We'll have to wait and see." NO COMMENT: Even with so much talk about seldom-used forward Amir Johnson, Saunders wasn't about to discuss the second-year player's performance in Friday's loss in Toronto. Johnson finished with three points and four rebounds. "I don't evaluate guys like that, one," Saunders said. "I mean, he got in there and he's got three more games.
