A suitable number of universities depends on how many people want to attend them --- basically, an economics issue. You never know the exact number until you relax the regulation to allow more new schools established, and, most important and still not yet done in Taiwan, to close the bad ones (departments or schools). So, the Minister of Education (should be Secretary of Education) did not make big mistake on this; he just had no time to finish this by being fired. Again, this is still a management problem. The politicians will not positively reform tax rate, remove '18% policies', get rid of military at campus, etc. how can you expect they will close down any badly operated schools? banks? etc? Next time, when they do election again, don't just believe (in) them. Thank about everything they say. Question them. Get your proper scientific training armed and forget the 'colours'. : 教育資源原本就這麼多了 現在大學氾濫資源當然就分散了 : 是不是專科等技職的都變成大學才是好的呢??我想是一個滿大的問題巴 : 我想這社會是需要分工合作的 不是人人都要唸大學或是研究所 : 而是各有所常各方面的人都需要巴需要理論思考的人才也需要技術人才 : 這應該是不同體系下一每個人的特質而培養出各方面的人才巴 : 每個體系下所需要的資源也就不同 Yes, but you haven't said 'how'. If you start to think of 'how', (get a paper, write down the ideas, equations, models or whatever) you will soon find there is no way you can properly determine it except the free and fair market. How to make a free and fair educational market, good control on school establishing and closure and funding, is the main issues. Unfortunately, I have never ever heard of such issues being intensely and wisely discussed since 2000. Now I even doubt if anybody else concerns this except people here. Unfortunately, he has never turned up to speak properly about that. I hate the politicians. --
