Juventus were aware the experienced international used the treatment and informed the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI) of his actions. However, an administrative error has seemingly resulted in the failed test being made public and Cannavaro must now go before CONI in a meeting in Turin on Friday to explain the situation and provide the correct documentation which would clear his name. CONI released a statement on its website explaining the circumstances of the positive test without revealing if any action has been taken against the player.
