Van Gundy led Miami for 2 years; Mitchell still on team's radar

The Indiana Pacers have spoken to former Miami Heat coach Stan Van Gundy
about their coaching vacancy, a person with knowledge of the situation
said Wednesday.

Van Gundy had no comment when reached by phone Wednesday evening.

Van Gundy hasn't coached since resigning from the Heat in December 2005.
Van Gundy is under contract with the Heat through the end of next season,
but Miami officials are granting teams permission to talk to him. He
interviewed with the Charlotte Bobcats last week.

Van Gundy was 112-73 in two-plus seasons with the Heat and guided them to
the 2005 Eastern Conference finals. Heat president Pat Riley replaced him
after an 11-10 start last season and led Miami to the title.

to replace Rick Carlisle. The Pacers have not asked permission to talk to
Mitchell, who is under contract until June 30. Raptors president Bryan
Colangelo told Toronto media last weekend he wanted to talk with Mitchell
soon.
多倫多教頭S.Mitchell被外界認為是接替卡帥在溜馬當總教練的首選,目前溜馬尚未
被允許和他接觸,S.Mitchell的合約到6月30號才結束 暴龍總裁B.Colagelo在上週

Two Pacers assistant coaches, Johnny Davis and Chuck Person, have interest
in the job, but neither has been contacted.

Team president Larry Bird is leading the search, which could lengthen if
Bird wants to talk to assistant coaches for teams still in the playoffs.
Phoenix assistant Marc Iavaroni is believed to be on the Pacers' list of
candidates.
