The former Sacramento star makes his debut for the Pacers as they try to end a season-high five-game losing streak in a matchup against the Washington Wizards. Stojakovic arrived in Indianapolis on Friday after being acquired from the Kings for Ron Artest, but sat out the Pacers' 93-89 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers, which dropped them to .500 for the first time this season. "When I heard it was the Pacers, I was really happy," Stojakovic said last week. "It's a great organization, the team is great. I hope I can fit into the system pretty fast." Stojakovic averaged 18.3 points, including 39.8 percent shooting from 3-point range, during his seven-plus seasons with the Kings. But he's posting 16.5 points through 31 games this season, his worst output since 1999-2000. Some of Stojakovic's struggles may be related to the injuries that caused him to miss nine games this season, including a protruding disc in his lower back, a sprained right pinkie finger and a strained groin. Stojakovic, though, said he's felt good the last two or three games and is eager to contribute to the Pacers. "I'm ready," he said. "I'm ready to accept the new challenge. This is a fresh start for me." While Stojakovic is ready, some of his new teammates are not. All-Star forward Jermaine O'Neal will miss at least eight weeks with a torn left groin, while Jamaal Tinsley (elbow) and top reserve Jeff Foster (back spasms) were both sidelined in Friday's loss. With the Pacers' roster depleted, rookie Danny Granger set career highs with 21 points and 14 rebounds, while reserve Fred Jones added 20 points. Stephen Jackson was the only other starter in double figures with 14 points for Indiana, which was outscored 24-11 from the free-throw line. "We hung in there, gave ourselves a chance to win, but didn't take advantage of it," said Pacers guard Sarunas Jasikevicius, who finished with 14 points. The Pacers are trying to avoid losing six in a row for the first time since Jan. 22-Feb. 2, 2005, but they've struggled away from home, losing 11 of their last 14. While Indiana hopes to move a game over .500, Washington is trying to move closer to the break-even mark. Gilbert Arenas scored 34 points on 50 percent shooting to lead the Wizards to a 107-97 victory over the Charlotte Bobcats on Saturday. Antawn Jamison had 23 points, including a career-high five 3-pointers, and 13 rebounds for his 21st double-double of the season. Since a season-high four-game winning streak from Jan. 11-16, the Wizards have alternated a loss and a win over their last six games. "You definitely want to get a few games over .500 before the All-Star break," said Jamison, who scored 20 or more points for the eighth straight game. "If we are the type of team we think we are, this is the stretch we really want to take advantage of." Washington plays six of its next seven games at home, while the Pacers will travel back to Indiana to begin a season-high seven-game homestand after this matchup.
