不好意思又來發問。 因為我的支票上已被扣這兩項費用 而之前板友說 1. 請雇主退 2. 等報稅自己填表單退 我已經和雇主提出反應 但可能因為網路上的資料寫得都是OPT相關事宜 CPT資訊較少 故主回信表示經過討論他們還是決定要在下一次支票扣這兩項費用 但其中有兩件事情我比較不解 以下是雇主回信 Hi Kathy I spoke to our accountant about Social Security and Medicare withholding for foreign nationals. Based on our discussion, and some additional research, it would appear that you are taxed in the same manner as a US Citizen would be— I have not found any info indicating that you aren’t liable for Medicaid and Social Security taxes. In fact, it seems that you would be able to collect on these under some circumstances. Either way, it is not possible for any worker to be exempted from Medicare and SS tax and not have these withheld—even if you were exempt from federal and state taxes, you would be liable for these two, and they would come out of your check (and not be refunded). Sorry to be the bearer of bad news; nonetheless whatever you are in fact exempt from will be refunded when you do your taxes. Regarding the possibility that you may leave the US in January, please let me know if this does end up happening so we can make proper arrangements.
