Orlando Magic reach 2-year deal with Matt Barnes─
and Dwight Howard gets the assist

The Orlando Magic and free-agent forward Matt Barnes have reached an
agreement in principle on a two-year deal, Barnes' agent confirmed to me
early Tuesday morning.
But here's a twist: Dwight Howard helped make the deal a reality.
Aaron Goodwin, who represents Barnes and Howard, said the Magic's All-Star
center made a big difference in the push for Barnes.
“He has agreed to a two-year deal, and I believe that Dwight’s recruitment
of him truly sealed the deal,” Goodwin wrote in a text message to me.
The agreement between Magic and Barnes was first reported on espn.com.
