Davis, McMillan Named Coaches of Month NEW YORK, Dec. 2 –- Orlando Magic head coach Johnny Davis and Seattle SuperSonics head coach Nate McMillan today were named the Eastern and Western Conference Coaches of the Month for games played in November. Davis led the Magic to an 8-5 record, a significant improvement from last year’s 0-14 start. This season marks the best start for Orlando through 13 games since going 10-3 during the 1998-99 season. Orlando leads the league in rebounding, while ranking among the top 10 in blocks (2nd), scoring (3rd), opponents’ field goal percentage (7th) and free throw percentage (9th). McMillan led the Sonics to an impressive 13-3 record through November, including a nine-game winning streak, to hold the second-best winning percentage in the West. The Sonics led the league in three-point field goal percentage (39.2%) and held opponents to a league-low 35.1 rebounds and 6.4 steals per game. McMillan surpassed Bill Russell to rank fourth on the Sonics all-time coaching win list, clinching his 163rd win on November 9th against San Antonio.
