The components of NBA momentum are fairly common: You get a victory, then another team in Tank Mode comes to town, maybe you factor in a player returning to the starting lineup and then the first victory turns into a winning streak. That’s the formula the Nets are hoping to have Friday night, when Detroit visits Izod Center, though whether the Pistons actually show up is a matter of interpretation. They are a horrid road team (7-28), they’ve lost six straight by an average count of 109-93, and even a pro’s pro such as Rip Hamilton is hearing accusations that he’s phoning it in already — a hard claim to shake, given that he’s shot 4-for-23 over the last three games. The Nets, meanwhile, have as much motivation as anyone, given their 8-63 record and an earnest desire to dodge NBA infamy. But now they also might have the manpower. Terrence Williams tested his sprained left ankle and shot around Thursday, when the rest of the team took the day off to celebrate Wednesday’s victory over Sacramento. “It still hurts him a little bit, but hopefully he won’t be out much longer, ” said coach Kiki Vandeweghe, who listed his starting 3 as a game-time decision. “He did just a little bit, but I thought Terrence looked pretty good.” Williams has been one of the Nets’ better players lately, and they’re coming off a very rare showing in which four other starters did their jobs very well. It doesn’t hurt, either, when your starting center rolls up 26 points, 13 rebounds, four blocks, four assists and dominates the opponent for 39 minutes. But the Nets hope that will become close to the norm for Brook Lopez who had regressed in big ways and small ways since early February. “We did a good job of getting him the ball early — that always keeps him engaged with the game, when we involve him offensively,” Keyon Dooling said. “That really does something for his psyche. It translates into (success in) every facet of the game for him.” “Brook was really, really good — especially on the defensive end,” Vandeweghe said. “He didn’t get frustrated, he played with a lot more energy, got a bunch of blocked shots. He was a horse. That kind of game shows you what he can be.” It certainly makes talk of a winning streak more plausible. The horse thinks so, anyway. “You have to look at the next one (as) a winnable game against Detroit,” Lopez said. “Then we go to Chicago (Saturday), and we played well against them the last time we were in Chicago. So they’re both winnable games for us. We just have to come out with the same intensity.” “Good teams bring it every night,” Dooling said. “Mediocre teams bring it sometimes. And teams at the bottom of the barrel don’t quite bring it often enough. We have to play consistently hard at all times. That’s still something we have to learn, and learn quickly.” Notes: According to the May issue of Bloomberg Markets magazine, which features Mikhail Prokhorov on the cover, the incoming Nets owner doesn’t own a cell phone, never uses the internet, and has never tasted vodka. For that matter, he also has a $45 million yacht called Solemar that he never uses, because he gets seasick. ...
