Nats show interest in Japanese lefty Wada By Bill Ladson / MLB.com | 11/07/11 9:00 PM ET WASHINGTON -- The Nationals have expressed interest in left-hander Tsuyoshi Wada of the Japanese Pacific League, according to two baseball sources. According to one source, the Nationals have scouted Wada "a lot" this past season and "the team considers him an option." The 30-year-old has played his entire career with the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks, going 16-5 with a 1.51 ERA this past season. Wada will officially become a free agent on Dec. 1. Wada, who is often compared to left-hander Jamie Moyer, started Game 1 of the Pacific League Championship Series against Seibu. He pitched seven innings, allowed only one run and became the winning pitcher in a 4-2 victory. He finished the season with 30 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings.
