Walker, 34, had a 3.57 ERA this season with 30 strikeouts in 35 innings. Many bullpen teammates, particularly rookie Drew Storen, expressed gratitude for Walker's willingness to offer advice and his generally positive demeanor. Walker last pitched June 19, one appearance after he began feeling pain in his right shoulder. Walker went on the disabled list and, upon further diagnosis, realized he needed surgery to repair a torn labrum. After more than six months of rehab, Walker could be ready to pitch by spring training. This summer, he also acknowledged retirement could be an option. --
