Back spasms force Dunn out of game Nationals first baseman expects to play Wednesday By Bill Ladson / MLB.com 03/16/10 5:15 PM ET VIERA, Fla. -- Nationals first baseman Adam Dunn left Tuesday's game against the Marlins because of lower back spasms. He is listed as day-to-day. Dunn hurt his back in the top of the second inning after attempting to grab a ball hit by Logan Morrison. Dunn was charged with an error on the play. "The ball was to my right, and I took a couple of steps," Dunn said. "[The back] just kind of locked up. I never had a back spasm before. That was kind of interesting. It seems to be a lot better now." Dunn was able to get one at-bat -- in the bottom of the second inning -- flying out to left field off Florida right-hander Rick VandenHurk. Dunn said he expects to play against the Astros on Wednesday in Kissimmee, Fla. "I will play tomorrow. Book it," Dunn said.
