The Yankees went into the game winners of five of their last seven games. Sale shut them right down. Young right-handeruis Severinoas tattooed for seven runs in only 2 2/3 innings of work on Friday. Even worse, he left the game after grabbing at his elbow while talking to the trainer on the mound. You can see video of the injuryight here. "He has not mentioned it. That was the first sign of it," said manager Joe Girardi after the game when asked if Severino had previously reported any problems. "You worry about it. We've seen a lot of guys in the game of baseball have to go on the DL. Obviously it's a big concern." An MRI brought good news, however. Severino was diagnosed with a mild right triceps strain, the team announced. He will be shut down for 5-7 days and placed on the 15-day DL. Considering Severino grabbed at his elbow -- that is always scary -- a triceps strain is good news. It could have been a lot worse. Severino, 22, dropped to 0-6 with a 7.46 ERA on the season with Friday's pounding. There had been talk the Yankees would send him to Triple-A. Last season Severino went 5-3 with a 2.89 ERA in 11 starts, his MLB debut. The Yankees have not announced who will replace Severino in the rotation. They are already withoutC Sabathia, who is on the DL himself with a groin strain. QQ --
