Joe Girardi just announced what everybody knew would be the case: Chien-Ming
Wang will be the Opening Day starter for the Yankees.
Wang was in line to start the opener last season when a hamstring injury
derailed him and the job somehow fell to Carl Pavano. Talk about a bad omen.
CMW was 19-7 with a 3.70 ERA last season and has 38 wins the last two
seasons, the most in baseball.
Wang threw in a Class A minor-league game today. He threw 60 of his 88
pitches for strikes. His line: 5.2 6 5 4 1 3.

Three of the hits and three of the runs came in the last inning. One of them
was a pop-fly double that landed just inside the left field line.
