Abreu Making the Yankees Forget Sheffield
阿布讓洋基忘了雨刷

The Yankees took a lot of criticism early this season for their decision to
trade Gary Sheffield to Detroit and keep Bobby Abreu. They’re not hearing
the same comments now.
季初丟掉雨刷留下阿布的決定，讓洋基招致許多幹譙，不過現在聽不到這種話了
Through May 29, Abreu was hitting .228 with two homers and 22 RBI. At the
time, Sheffield was hitting .262 with 12 homers and 29 RBI.
直至5月29日 阿布打擊率是.228 兩轟 22分打點
同時間 雨刷是.262的打擊率 12轟 29分打點
Compare the players since then, over a much larger sample of games: Abreu is
hitting .323 with 14 homers and 72 RBI, while Sheffield is hitting .275 with
12 homers and 43 RBI. Abreu’s defense is also much better — obviously,
since Sheffield is a D.H. and told the Yankees he would not play first base
for them in 2007.
從那時(5/29)到現在，透過一個較大樣本數來比較兩者：
當雨刷打擊率.275，全壘打12發，43分打點時；
阿布則是.323的打擊率，14轟跟72分打點，
而且很顯然的，阿布的防守優於雨刷，因為雨刷總是放在D.H.的位置，
因為他在2007年時跟洋基說："一壘不是我的家"....
It’s funny to look back at Sheffield’s comments about Abreu after the
Yankees decided to trade him. “I’ve done more for the Yankees than he will
ever do,” Sheffield said last Nov. 8. “When you lose your spot on a team,
it should be because the other guy is better than you. But that’s not the
case here.”
當洋基決定把阿布交易過來時，雨刷的反應是挺有趣的：
他去年11月8日說："我幫洋基作過的事絕對勝過他"
"當你在一個隊伍陣中失去焦點，那就是別人表現比你好，不過在這裡卻不是這樣..."

Yes, injuries have contributed to Sheffield’s decline. But injuries are also
to be expected, perhaps, since Sheffield is almost 39 years old and Abreu is
34. It’s a no-brainer that the Yankees will exercise their $16 million
option on Abreu for 2008. The Tigers owe Sheffield $28 million through 2009.
當然，受傷是促成雨刷功力衰退的原因，
不過受傷多少也是預料的到的，雨刷都39歲了，而阿布才34歲，
用腳頭烏想都知道，洋基當然會使用他們對阿布到2008年$16 million的選擇權，
而雨刷到2009年的$28 million則落在老虎身上
Also, remember Sheffield’s assertion that Alex Rodriguez would miss his
presence in the clubhouse? Sheffield made it seem as if Rodriguez would be a
lost soul without him. It turns out that A-Rod can handle himself just fine
without Sheffield. He seems more comfortable around other teammates and, of
course, much more comfortable on the field.

好像意味著要是沒有了雨刷伯，阿肉就像沒了靈魂一樣，
不過現在事實證明：
沒有雨刷，阿肉一樣過的很好，跟其他人玩的不亦樂乎，在場上更是一樣酥酥胡胡.....
