Dear all Welcome to Taiwan. We believe that your staying here is a very good experience in life. The international students do help NTU a lot for building an internationalization environment. You do give our students a chance to interact with foreigners. We truly appreciate this. Because of culture difference, some of your behaviors might be acceptable in your country. NTU respects you all, no matter what you do, and is willing to let you know the different culture between your country and ours. Therefore, I think that you are required to respect yourselves, too. Each of you represents the nationality you are. If you do something good, local students would get a good image of your country or foreigners. In Taiwan, the students' dormitory is considered a quiet, safe, sex-separated living environment. Local students don't drink, smoke, talk loudly, or go wild around here. They follow and respect the regulations because they know the violators will be expelled. Maybe, some of international students would say it is boring, funny, ridiculous, or not that serious. We do understand and are willing to give you the second chance to know what is not allowed in the dormitory. However, this brings us some question about we execute different kind of regulations. For you, we tolerate, and for them we punish. It is my duty to tell you that's not true. We don't tolerate but just give you the chance to learn instead. We know that most of international students are wonderful, kind, and good. I write this letter only for reminding you something you may or may not know. And base on some events happened recently, I list the followings that international students may do without awareness. 1. Do NOT smoke in the room or around the dormitory, except the smoking area. 2. Visitors can only get in your room when finishing the applying procedure during 7 am to 11pm. Any over-night visitor is not allowed. 3. Do NOT damage any facilities not belong to you. 4. Do NOT throw trash around or out of the window. 5. Do NOT make noise and don't be too aloud, no matter in or out of your room after 11pm. You are always welcomed to dorm counselor if you have problem when fitting here.
