Moskowitz, Assistant professor, Lake Forest College Professor Moskowitz is currently a Fulbright Scholar, affiliated with The Institute of Ethnology, Academia Sinica, and is a recipient of the Fulbright-Hays, Fulbright, and Chiang Ching-Kuo awards. An Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology at Lake Forest College in Illinois, he received his Ph.D. in cultural anthropology at the University of California, San Diego. He is the author of The Haunting Fetus: Abortion, Sexuality and the Spirit World in Taiwan (2001) and co-editor of The Minor Arts of Daily Life: Popular Culture in Taiwan (2004). Professor Moskowitz lived in the People’s Republic of China for one year in the late 1980s, in southern Taiwan for a total of one year in the late 1980s-early 1990s, and a total of over seven years in Taipei between the mid-1990s and today. His presentation will cover aspects of his current research on popular music in Taiwan and its sociological implications.
