Join A Day Trip With NTUISIS! Hello from the International Student Information Service (The volunteer group)! After the torture of midterms, NTUISIS knows that it’s time for you to relax. So we prepare a day trip for you to explore the beauty of Taiwan. This time, we will visit Jioufen Old Street , JinshanMuseum, Gold Waterfall, Thirteen Level, YiyangSea and Caoling Old Path. on 4 December,2005 (Sunday). Jioufen old street is one of the busiest street in Jioufen. The street and the house are built along the mountain slope, forming a vertical chessboard. Starting from the bottom are three transmeridional roads-- Cingbian Road, Jishan Street and Ciche Road. Most of the snack shops are located in Jishan Street. Shuci Road, where most tea shops are located, is formed with hundreds of stone steps. Some shops sell snacks of traditional flavor, including taro and sweet potato, rice cake with taro, taro ball and more. For visitors who dislike the commercialized old street or the noise, a tea shop can be a great choice. A cup of Chinese tea and the nice view over Jioufen will help you forget all the troubles in reality. JinshanMuseum is built for memorizing the history of mining in Taiwan from Ching Dynesty. We can see many beautiful places here. For example, Prince Hotel , Golden fountain, and Golden temple. Also, we can enjoy the procedure of gold mining at a reasonable cost. If you’re lucky enough, maybe you can make a fortune here. Gold Waterfall, Thirteen Level and Yiyang Sea Gold Waterfall is located near Zihciang Bridge and Changren Mining Area. When the heavy rainfall of the Jingua Stone area flows into the copper ore and iron ore and out, a golden waterfall is formed. No wonder this area is one of most popular spot for wedding photo. The so-called “Thirteen Level” is actually a copper smeltery built along the hillside. The plant has 13 levels, hence the name. The abandoned plant is a popular spot for singers in Taiwan to shot their music video. The top of the “Thirteen Level” offers a great view over YiyangSea where the water of the upper stream displays a different color because of the heavy metal. Caoling Old Path Departing from Gongliao Train Station and walk along Yuanwangkeng Street towards the mountain, you will find the entry of Caoling old path—Beikou. Before Beikou, the road is blacktop and concrete road, but after entering Beikou, you will have to walk up stone steps and slope. Walking pass the underground tunnel in front of Gongliao Elementary School, you will find yourself in Desing Palace, which was originally a place used for rice solarization. Standing at the entry of Yuanwangkeng Street, you will see a nice view of farm houses, temples and paddyfield. Walking up the slope, Broussonetia papyrifera, Morus australis Poir and Medinilla formosana welcome you on both sides of the footpath. If you visit the place in June, you might be able to see all kinds of beautiful butterflies, including Cyrestis thyodamas and Papilio polytes. Golden eagle is a visitor of the area. In the summer, a lot of visitors enjoy fishing and swimming in the stream. After getting a brief information about this trip, you must feel tempted to join it.
