Build real routing system
New techniques
Must handle non-trivial capacity
Must handle at least the most basic rules – spacing, width, vias
Understanding and appreciation of nanometer rules
Observation – GR written by researchers with DR experience are in general of much higher quality
Take advantage of routing as a yield optimization technique
Significant opportunity and added value
