各位同學大家好！
5/29, 5/30, 6/4下午三點我們安排了簡靜惠人文講座三場演講，邀請了賓州大學英文系講
座教授、國際著名的文藝復興及後殖民學者Ania Loomba擔任講者。Loomba教授是印度學者
，也是個女性主義者，著有Gender, Race, Renaissance Drama、Colonialism/
Postcolonialism、 Shakespeare, Race, and Colonialism三本書，編有 Race in Early
Modern England: A Documentary Companion 一書，她還與人合編 Post-colonial
Shakespeares 、 Postcolonial Studies and Beyond 兩書，最近則在編a critical
edition of Antony and Cleopatra。
6/2, 6/6下午三點我們則邀請了賓州大學英文系講座教授兼系主任、著名的十八世紀及後殖
民學者Suvir Kaul擔任講者。Kaul教授是印度學者，著有Poems of Nation, Anthems of
Empire: English Verse in the Long Eighteenth Century及Thomas Gray and Literary
Authority: Ideology and Poetics in Eighteenth-Century England兩本書，編有The
Partitions of Memory: the afterlife of the division of India，與人合編
Postcolonial Studies and Beyond。
我們有幸能請到兩位學者夫婦，五場演講想必能讓大家大開眼界。值得注意的是，除了英國
文藝復興及十八世紀文學之議題以外，6/4的演講討論印度對莎劇的改編，6/6的演講則探討
三個印度文本，當此南亞研究日漸受到重視之際，可謂正逢其時，希望大家把握機會。
