1.At 25.0℃ the equilibrium constant for the reaction
CO(g)+H2O(g)→CO2(g)+H2(g)
is 1.00*10^(-5), and ΔS°is 4.18J/Kmol.
(a)Calculate ΔG°and ΔH°at 25℃.
(b)Suppose that 2 mole of CO and 2 mole of H2O are introduced into a 10dm^3
vessel at 25℃. What are the amount of CO, H2O, CO2, and H2 at equilibrium?
2.The equilibriu, constant Kp for the reaction
I2(g)+cyclopentane(g)→2HI(g)+cyclopentadiene(g)
varies with temperatures according to the following equation
log10(Kp/bar)=7.55-4844/(T/K)
(a)Calculate Kp, ΔG°(standard state:1 bar) at 400℃.
(b)Calculate Kc, and ΔG°(standatd state: 1M) at 400℃.
(c)If I2 and cyclopentane are initially at 400℃ and at concentrations of 0.1M,
calculate the final equilibrium concentrations of I2, cyclopentane, HI, and
cyclopentadiene.
3.At 1 bar pressure liquid bromine boils at 58.2℃, and at 9.3℃ its vapor
pressure is 0.1334 bar. Assuming ΔH° and ΔS° to be temperature independent,
calculate their values, and calculate the vapor pressure and ΔG° at 25℃.
4.The normal boiling point of toluene is 110.62℃. Estimate its vapor pressure
at 80.00℃ assuming that toluene obeys Trouton's rule.
5.The vapor pressure of pure ethylene dibromide is 172 Torr and that of pure
propylene dibromide is 128 Torr both at 358K and 1atm pressure. If these two
components follow Raoult's law, estimate the total vapor pressure in kPa and
the vapor composition in equilibrium with a solution that is 0.600 mole
fraction propylene dibromide.
6.The apparent value of Kf in 1.5-molal aqueous sucrose (C12H22O11) solution is
2.17Kkg/mol. The solution does not behave ideally; calculate its activity and
activity coefficient(ΔfusH°=6009.5J/mol).
7.Try to prove the decline of freezing point ΔfT is proportional to the
molality of solute m2 with a cryoscopic constant Kf.
8.The equilibrium constant for the reaction
H2(g)+I2(g)→2HI(g)
is 20.0 at 40.0℃, and the vapor pressure of solid iodine is 0.10bar at that
temperature. if 12.7g of solid iodine are placed in a 10dm^3 vessel at 40℃,
what is the minimum amount of hydrogen gas that must be introduced in order
to remove all the solid iodine?
9.Calculate the capor pressure above liquid ethanol at 35.0℃ when Ar is added
until the total pressure is 100bar. The density of liquid ethanol at this
temperature is 0.7767kg/dm^3 and the true vapor pressure is 100.0 Torr.
